BPA Banned from Baby Bottles but More Dangers Lurk

The government announced on Tuesday that BPA will officially be banned from all bottles and sippy cups. But, unfortunately, that doesn’t necessarily mean consumers can rest assured their products are free of danger. Not only is still approved for use in most products, it is still widely used by many manufactures.

Additionally, while some manufactures have made voluntary efforts to remove BPA from their products due to consumer opposition, many are simply replacing it with BPS, a BPA analogue in the same bisphenol chemical class — which may be every bit as toxic. While the rejection of BPA safety for baby bottles and sippy cups is a small step in the right direction, much work still needs to be done to raise awareness about the dangers of BPA in and around our food supply.
